June 5 -I write!

Mam Sagar - I had just photographed the children -radiant, colorful, and eager -through the dark hole of my doorway framed in grass. Now she comes out, raspy voice proceeding, huge breasts swaying, screaming for Mohammad to go to Banandar to pull water.
The EE group kind of waits for what is going to happen in shock. Mohammad makes a feeble excuse but his eyes are set -he knows he has to go. I try to plea for him in my laughable Wolof -how he needs to stay and learn, but she also yells at me in front of everyone.
As she marches out in a huff, and Mohammad follows, Djegane talks about "le droit de l'enfant," which I had previously heard but not understood. These kids have a right to say no to their ignorant, sex crazy parents and learn.
The other kids laughed at the ridiculousness of Mam Sagar. I felt happy, for that time she forgot my name after a year here in front of Angie. I have a problems with moms.
